The volume goes back to the middle of the screen, where you are already looking.

Why it exists

In macOS 26 Tahoe, Apple moved the system volume overlay to the top-right corner. On a 34-inch ultrawide, or across three displays, that is the far end of the desk from wherever your eyes happen to be.

I wrote this for myself, because I was hunting for that overlay every time. Centered Volume draws its own panel in the middle, above the dock.

What it does

Device, level and mute in one place
The panel carries the active output's name, the volume bar, and the mute state. All of it in one place, in the middle of the screen, with no glance into the corner.
Drag it wherever you want
It sits above the dock by default, but you can put it anywhere. The position is stored as a share of the screen, so it lands where you left it when you plug in a different display.
Switch output without opening Settings
Click the device name and every output the system knows about drops down, each with its own level and mute state. One click to switch.
Settings behind the gear
The app has no dock icon and no menu bar item, so everything you can set lives behind the gear on the panel itself: launching at login, holding the panel open while the cursor is over it, and putting it back where it started once you have dragged it somewhere you cannot find.
